‘Superman: Legacy’ adds Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho

The ‘Barry’ star heads to the DCU; also joining the James Gunn helmed ‘Gods and Monsters’ DCU flick are Isabela Merced, Edi Gathegi, and Nathan Fillion.

The Legacy is becoming clearer. After announcing the new Clark Kent and Lois Lane late last month, Superman: Legacy has now added Anthony Carrigan (NoHo Hank in Barry) as Metamorpho. Also freshly announced are Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific and Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner (who will absolutely don the iconic bowl cut).

The off-kilter hero Rex Mason, known as Metamorpho, can transmute his body into various forms, taking on any powers the new elements may have. Turning from his career in archaeology, the shapeshifter later founded the supergroup the Outsiders.

Superman: Legacy serves as an origin story following a younger version of the Man of Steel. Gunn, who penned the script, also directs. DC Studios Co-CEO Peter Safran produces. Legacy is the first film from Gunn and Safran’s new Gods and Monsters chapter of the DCU.

Superman: Legacy is slated to fly into theaters July 11, 2025.
