OIAF 2024 Reveals Official Selections for Young & Teen Audiences, Animated Series

Newest competition category consists of 10 animated works that bridge the gap between adult and child audiences, including the latest from Pixar Animation Studio’s SparkShorts program.

The Ottawa International Animation Festival has revealed official selections in the Young Audiences 7+, Teen Audiences 13+, and Animated Series competition categories. In addition to competitions the event boasts screenings, exhibits, and workshops and brings together artists, producers, students, and animation fans from around the globe to experience world-class animated works. This year’s OIAF runs September 25-29.

The newest competition category consists of 10 animated works that bridge the gap between adult and child audiences, including the latest from Pixar Animation Studio’s SparkShorts program. This year’s Young Audiences 7+ includes nine selections, including a film made by Portuguese high school students.

“Each year we try to find an array of voices and visions to introduce younger audiences to sides of animation that they can’t easily access,” said OIAF artistic director Chris Robinson. “These films will hopefully inspire and encourage a new generation of artists to follow their own creative paths.”
