Disney’s ‘Haunted Mansion’ Pushed to Summer 2023

The company’s busy theatrical release calendar gets some post D23 updates, as many dates have been moved, while the Star Wars film ‘Rogue Squadron’ had disappeared altogether.

It’s time for a change-up! Tons of new and exciting upcoming content was revealed during Disney’s recent D23 convention, and now we see the company’s theatrical release schedule reflecting some of those big announcements. Some dates have been pushed, some new dates have been shared, and one significant title is now absent.

Unfortunately, the live-action feature Haunted Mansion has been pushed from March 10 to August 11, 2023. Inspired by the classic theme park attraction, the spooky flick follows a woman and her son who enlist a motley crew of so-called spiritual experts to help rid their home of supernatural squatters. The film is directed by Justin Simien and stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Rosario Dawson, LaKeith Stanfield, Danny DeVito, Jared Leto, and Tiffany Haddish.

While most of the noted changes pertained to release dates, the upcoming Star Wars film Rogue Squadron seems to have been wiped from the calendar altogether. The Patty Jenkins-led film, billed as the “greatest fighter pilot movie ever made,” was originally slated for a December 22 2023 release, but has been put on hold for unspecified reasons.

It's not all bad news! Some release dates have been officially set, including Pixar’s Elio, which arrives March 1, 2024; Disney’s Snow White hits March 22, 2024; Pixar’s Inside Out 2 opens June 14, 2024; and Mufasa: The Lion King arrives July 5, 2024.

Which recently announced Disney film are you most excited for?
