Skydance, National Amusements Reach Tentative Paramount Acquisition Deal

Talks are more than back on… the purchase will not be finalized until it is reviewed by the special committee of Paramount’s board of directors, with a 45-day period to shop around for other bidders.

It seems the two parties never quite stopped talking… Skydance Media and National Amusements Inc. have just reached a tentative agreement for the acquisition of Paramount Global, according to Variety. The deal will not be finalized until it is reviewed by Paramount Global’s special committee of its board of directors, with a 45-day period to shop around for other bidders.

Initial talks with National Amusements halted in June, with the parties citing concern over the ability to close the then $6 billion transaction. The terms of the new agreement have not yet been revealed. While sources close to the situation say the discussions are ‘extremely serious,’ there is no certainty of a sale.

Previous to the announcement, it was revealed on Monday that Warner Bros. Discovery is in active talks with Paramount for either a sale or partnership between the streaming platforms Max and Paramount+ to better contend against competitors.
