Warner Bros. Television Developing ‘300’ Series

While plot details remain a mystery, sources state the project is a prequel to the revolutionary 2006 film, with Zack and Deborah Snyder in talks to return to the franchise.

A 300 series adaptation is in early development at Warner Bros. Television, according to Variety. Original film director and co-writer Zack Snyder is in talks to direct and executive produce alongside franchise regulars Deborah Snyder, Gianni Nunnari, Mark Canton, and Bernie Goldmann. A potential writer has not yet been announced.

While plot details remain a mystery, sources close to Variety state the project is a prequel to the groundbreaking 2006 film. Although not much else is known, the franchise’s trademark stylized CG environments are sure to return.

300 is based on the graphic novel by Frank Miller and Lynn Varley, which loosely recounts the Battle of Thermopylae. Gerard Butler stars as Leonidas, alongside Rodrigo Santoro, Lena Headey, David Wenham, Dominic West, Vincent Regan, Tom Wisdom, and Michael Fassbender. The sequel 300: Rise of an Empire, which was based on Miller’s graphic novel Xerxes, was released in 2014.
