Netherlands-based AVRO will be bringing Lloyd Entertainment's first TV production, DIP & DAP at MIP-TV. The series began airing in The Netherlands and Belgium in fall 2003. New series of episodes are already in production. The show follows baby giraffes, male Dip and female Dap, as they meet their new surroundings. The characters and animation are based on illustrations by Jet Middag. The first series of 10x5 episodes was geared for children from 2 and up.
Many DIP & DAP products are already for sale, including birthday calendars, greetings cards, serviettes, dishes, plates, mugs, towels, rucksacks, baby articles and accessories, toys, playing rugs, kites and more. Direct Internet promotion and sales have been made possible. Video, DVD, as well as multimedia booklets will be available later in 2004.
Independent broadcasting association AVRO (Algemene Vereniging Radio Omroep) is one of the oldest (80 years in 2003) public broadcasters in the world and the most important one in the Netherlands. About 25% of its airtime is produced in-house, another 25% is co-produced and 50% is acquired. Main products for the international market are classical music (a.o. The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra); art documentaries; drama and youth programs (animation, drama and live action). AVRO will be at the Netherlands Public Broadcasting Booth 16.20.
