Duality AI Releases FalconCloud and FalconEditor Digital Twin Tools

Product suite additions enable powerful collaborative workflows; editor uses 3D techniques to create and modify simulation-ready digital twins while cloud-based tool supports large scale high-fidelity simulations anywhere - directly from a web browser.

Duality AI has expanded its Falcon digital twin integration platform product suite, announcing today the addition of FalconCloud and FalconEditor, making the adoption of powerful collaborative workflows more accessible.

The Falcon Editor, made possible by Duality’s work repurposing Epic Games’ Unreal Editor for digital twin workflows, uses standard 3D techniques to create and modify simulation-ready digital twins and scenarios. FalconCloud enables teams to access all features of FalconSim directly from their web browser, and supports collaboration across time zones, removing IT burdens that limit simulation capabilities, with a reduction in cost and time.

"The idea that simulation should only be used by siloed simulation experts is quickly becoming outmoded,” said Duality AI co-founder and CEO Apurva Shah. "With smart systems permeating all levels of modern work, we're already seeing digital twin simulation becoming necessary across the entire product life cycle.”

With FalconCloud, Duality’s digital twin simulator, FalconSim, is accessible from a web browser, allowing users to run large scale high-fidelity simulations without any special hardware or software installations. Users can review scenarios and results from anywhere with engineering teams able to coordinate and collaborate more efficiently with seamless access to assets, scenarios, and simulation sessions.

Recent developments in Embodied AI have highlighted the need for simulation tools to safely and efficiently test and train robotic systems.

"Falcon has been purpose-built for testing and training smart systems,” continued Shah. "Integrating generative AI models was the logical next step to enabling the next generation of robotic systems. And with FalconCloud, exploring Embodied AI is now accessible to everyone as a free web-based application." As more advanced AI models become available, Duality will continue to integrate them with Falcon and make them readily available to customers.”

FalconSim has also been updated to improve virtual sensors with enhanced sensor rendering capabilities, collecting more sensor data, and increasing multi-sensor system rendering speeds. Additional support for the new sensor types has been added to Falcon’s library.

"In the past, KEF often faced a trade-off between simulating expansive environments and maintaining high fidelity,” commented KEF Robotics CEO Fraser Kitchell. “With Duality's Falcon simulator, this compromise is no longer a concern. Falcon enables us to rigorously test our autonomy algorithms in photorealistic environments an order of magnitude larger than any we’ve previously used. The evolution of these simulation tools can dramatically increase the velocity at which we validate our aerial autonomy software, and to that purpose, Duality's Falcon platform has been the best visual scene generator that we've worked with."

Via an extended agreement with Epic Games, the digital twin simulation applications offer more Unreal Engine 5 functionality. FalconEditor leverages Unreal Editor, improving workflow efficiency with new features designed for digital twin and scenario authoring. It uses a 3D interactive tool for intuitive creation and editing of diverse simulation scenarios, as well as digital twins of environments, items, and machines. In an integrated development environment (IDE) users can ensure all functions perform as expected in simulation, allowing for rapid iterations on both system and sensor characteristics within the embedded context in which these smart systems are expected to operate.
