IATSE and AMPTP Reach Tentative Deal on Area Standards Agreement

The agreement comes after a tentative deal was also struck on the parent contract, the Basic Agreement, on Tuesday, which should mean no strike this summer.

IATSE and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) have tentatively agreed on all issues presented in the Area Standards Agreement, the companion contract to the Basic Agreement, which was also tentatively agreed upon on Tuesday, according to Deadline. Pending ratification, this new development will prevent an IATSE strike this summer.

“Members and signatories will have the opportunity to review the agreement in the form of a detailed summary in the days to come, followed by a Memorandum of Agreement (M.O.A.) at a later date,” both parties said in a joint statement.

Upcoming negotiations include talks between AMPTP and the Teamsters, which will occur before the current contract expires on July 31. IATSE and the Teamsters previously insinuated contracts would not be extended to accommodate talks.
