SIGGRAPH Asia 2021 Will Be Held in Tokyo and Online

Announcement confirms the hybrid event will take place December 14-17 at the Tokyo International Forum – selected events will also be available virtually; Sony Group Corporation’s executive deputy president and CTO Toru Katsumoto to give keynote.

SIGGRAPH Asia 2021 has officially confirmed the conference will place in-person in Tokyo, Japan from December 14-17 at the Tokyo International Forum. Selected events will also be available online. Japan has continued to hold business events and exhibitions throughout the year by adopting a wide variety of safe measures. Event organizers will also select conference programs accessible online with networking opportunities enabled for international attendees who may be unable to travel.

Leading industry companies slated to participate in the event include Adobe Research; Amazon Web Services; Autodesk; Bandai Namco; Digital Hollywood University; FORUM8, IMAGICA GROUP; Khronos Group; PIXAR; and SideFX.

“FORUM8 has participated in SIGGGRAPH Asia 2018 in Tokyo, 2019 in Brisbane, and 2020’s Virtual event as an exclusive platinum sponsor,” commented FORUM8 Co., Ltd. president Yuji Ito. “We have the confidence in SIGGRAPH Asia 2021 and have once again committed our support early as the event’s platinum sponsor. SIGGRAPH Asia is the to-go Computer Graphics event in the region, and we definitely will not want to miss being a part of it!”

Sony Group Corporation’s executive deputy president and CTO Toru Katsumoto will deliver a keynote, with other key industry experts and speakers announcements coming soon. The conference programs’ call for submissions are ongoing and have been well received with ample cutting-edge content expected to be featured at the event.

“The past 18 months has been a series of challenges and introspections for all of us, and I believe everyone is eager for in-person events to resume this year,” shared SIGGRAPH Asia 2021 conference chair Shuzo John Shiota. “Safety of all participants is our utmost concern, but with large-scale events in Tokyo like the Olympics going on safely, it is assuring to organizers and participants that the local event will be able to pull through. The only uncertainty at this moment is the number of international attendees that can join us physically due to travel restrictions and quarantine requirements.”

“With that beyond our control, we have decided to have a selected range of programs accessible online for our international attendees who may not be able to travel,” he added. “With a team of very dedicated professionals working hard tirelessly, I am confident to bring forth an amazing hybrid edition for the community this December. We look forward to seeing you at the industry’s most anticipated reunion!”
