NVIDIA Studio Highlights Michael Gilmour’s ‘Winter World’ Videos

NVIDIA DLSS 3.5 now available on real-time 3D creation software D5 Render; blog showcases 3D artists’ long-form “winter worlds’ videos designed to offer viewers a sense of peace and relaxation.

This week, the NVIDIA Studio blog “DLSS 3.5 Integration in D5 Render Marks New Era of Real-Time Rendering” highlights the work of 3D design artist Michael Gilmour, who shared his “chillingly stunning winter worlds.” Inspired by growing up in the winters of Appleton, Georgia, Gilmour’s 3D art showcases breathtakingly photorealistic details. His long-form videos offer viewers a sense of peace and relaxation.

Gilmour began his creative workflows in Unreal Engine and created custom 3D meshes in Blender for further customization. He used Blender Cycles’ NVIDIA RTX-accelerated OptiX ray tracing in the viewport for interactive, photorealistic rendering — all powered by his GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card.

By upgrading to a GeForce RTX 40 Series GPU, Gilmour could use NVIDIA DLSS, which has just received an update. DLSS 3.5 is now available on real-time 3D creation software D5 Render, featuring DLSS Super Resolution, Frame Generation, and Ray Reconstruction. An AI neural network powers the integration.

Check out Gilmore’s winter videos “Campfire on a Winter Cliff,” “Dickensian Christmas Reading Nook,” and “Northern Lights,” which he designed to offer viewers a sense of peace and relaxation while encouraging self-reflection.
