Daytime Emmy Nominations Announced

Nominations for the 2008 Daytime Emmy Awards were announced Wednesday in New York, and include 13 nods for the Disney Channel, three for Nickelodeon, eight for Kids WB and seven for Nick Jr.

ARTHUR, CHARLIE AND LOLA, CURIOUS GEORGE, LITTLE EINSTEINS and PEEP AND THE BIG WIDE WORLD were nominated for Outstanding Children's Animated Program.

THE BATMAN (Kids WB) and BETWEEN THE LIONS (PBS) each received four nominations.

From Warner Bros. TV, THE BATMAN was nominated for outstanding special class animated program, outstanding achievement in sound mixing, outstanding achievement in sound editing and Kevin Michael Richardson was nominated for outstanding performer in an animated program for his voice role as The Joker.

WGBH's BETWEEN THE LIONS, which combines live action and animation, was nominated for outstanding pre-school children's series, outstanding writing in a children's series, outstanding achievement in music direction and composition, and outstanding achievement in art direction/set decoration/scenic design.

JAKERS! THE ADVENTURES OF PIGGLEY WINKS and WORDGIRL, both of PBS, were nominated for outstanding writing.

MY FRIENDS TIGGER AND POOH (Disney Channel) and WORDWORLD (PBS) were among the nominees for outstanding achievement in main title design.

CURIOUS GEORGE (PBS), LEGION OF SUPER HEROES (CW) and LOONATICS UNLEASHED (Kids WB) were among the nominees for outstanding achievement in sound editing.

In music direction and composition, nominees include BARBIE FAIRYTOPIA: MAGIC OF THE RAINBOW (Nickelodeon), LEGION OF SUPER HEROES (CW), TOM AND JERRY TALES (Kids WB) and THE WONDER PETS! (Nick Jr.). LEGION OF SUPER HEROES and TOM AND JERRY TALES were also nominated for sound mixing.

Partly-animated FETCH! WITH RUFF RUFFMAN (PBS) was nominated for its series theme song, single camera editing and outstanding writing in a children's series. PBS' POSTCARDS FROM BUSTER, also including animation, is nominated for outstanding children's series.

The awards recognize outstanding achievement in all fields of daytime television production and are presented to individuals and programs broadcast from 2 a.m.-6 p.m. during the 2007 calendar year. This year’s ceremony will be broadcast live on ABC on Friday, June 20, from Hollywood’s Kodak Theatre (8 p.m. ET – West coast tape delay). This will mark the third time the Daytime Emmy Awards will be broadcast from Hollywood in the 35-year history of the Awards ceremonies. The program will be produced by White Cherry Entertainment.
