The transmedia startup has secured $2 million in funding for their sci-fi action rogue-lite RPG.
WanderLabs, a transmedia startup, announced that their sci-fi video game, Wanderers, will release in 2024. The company is celebrating its second-year anniversary with the video game launch announcement.
Following a successful seed round last year, WanderLabs secured $2M in funding with the support of industry leaders Animoca Brands and GameFi Ventures. This financial success will enable the startup and sci-fi universe to expand its intellectual property and bring to life a video game developed in collaboration with Blowfish Studios. Additionally, Animoca Brands and GameFi Ventures will serve as tokenomics advisors during the game’s development. Additional collaborators include Polygon Studios, Rarible, Macroverse and Royal.

According to the company, the upcoming Wanderers video game introduces a thrilling pseudo-isometric action rogue-lite RPG gameplay experience, where players can embark on an epic journey to collect upgrades, abilities, weapons and more. The game revolves around the core elements of building, battling, progression, rewards and upgrading. At the start of each run, players will find themselves in their customizable home base, which can be upgraded and expanded to meet their needs. Here, they will receive objectives and prepare for the next exhilarating adventure. In addition to an engaging story mode that can be enjoyed cooperatively, the game will also feature a factions mode that adds a competitive aspect to the game.
Through a combination of procedural generation and meticulous manual design, the story mode maps in the Wanderers game aim to offer a consistently fresh and exciting experience for players. As the game progresses, players will have the opportunity to create their own maps using modular blocks, unlocking limitless creative possibilities.
