Oscar-Nominated Sean Bobbitt Boards ‘Captain Marvel 2’

The ‘Judas and the Black Messiah’ cinematographer is excited to join the project yet nervous to work on a film that relies heavily on CGI.

Captain Marvel 2 is becoming a veritable behind-the-scenes powerhouse. Joining Marvel’s first Black female director Nia DaCosta (Little Woods, Candyman) and writer Megan McDonnel (WandaVision) is Oscar-nominated cinematographer Sean Bobbitt (Judas and the Black Messiah).

In a recent interview with Go Creative Show, Bobbitt admits he is nervous to work on Captain Marvel 2, as it is the “complete polar opposite” of his recent film. He also cites working with CGI as a fear he must conquer, stating, “The CGI world. That technology is moving on so quickly and trying to not get lost in the CGI. I remember it's about the people, it's about the characters.”

Brie Larson, back as Carol Danvers, will be joined by Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, who first appeared on WandaVision. Marvel newcomer Iman Vellani is also set to appear as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel.

Captain Marvel 2 is set to premiere on November 11, 2022.
