Fest Anča Reveals 2024 Competition Selections

Out of 1,340 film submissions from 71 countries, 206 films were selected to participate in this year’s event; The Slovak Republic’s only multimedia festival focused on animation runs June 25-30.

The 17th edition of The Slovak Republic’s Fest Anča International Animation Festival has revealed its official selections for this year’s event, which runs June 25-30. The pre-selection committee chose 206 films to participate in the event, from the 1,340 film submissions received from 71 countries. The selected films feature progressive animation techniques and approach to narration in filmmaking.

“Pushing the usual boundaries is demonstrated by the films’ longer runtimes,” said program director and pre-selection committee member Jakub Spevák. “This trend makes us happy since it’s a sign of an ongoing emancipation of animated films.”
