Disney VFX Supervisor Steve Goldberg to Present ‘Frozen 2’ at VIEW 2019

Conference attendees get early, extended look at highly anticipated sequel to the studio’s 2013 hit musical adventure, the highest grossing animated feature film of all time. 

The View Conference, Italy’s premier event celebrating the best in Animation, VFX, Games, VR and Computer Graphics, has just announced that  Walt Disney Animation Studios VFX supervisor Steve Goldberg will present a preview of the studio’s upcoming animated feature, Frozen 2, the long-awaited sequel to their smash 2013 hit, Frozen, the highest grossing animated film of all time. Goldberg, who received a BAFTA nomination for his visual effects work on Disney’s 1992 hit, Aladdin, was VFX supervisor on Frozen as well as Tangled. Frozen 2 arrives in U.S. theatres November 22.

The conference also recently added presentations by Alex Schwartz, producer for the soon to be released animated feature film, The Addams Family; Patrick Hackett co-creator and Drew Skillman, creative director, for Tilt Brush; and Frances Adair McKenzie, who will present in the VIEW Conference VR space.

All told, representatives from 16 feature films plus the epic HBO series Game of Thrones will present their projects and lead workshops at VIEW 2019. Films include The Lion KingToy Story, Avengers: End Game, Captain Marvel, Klaus, Frozen 2, The Addams FamilyIncredibles 2, Spider-Man Into the Spider-VerseHow to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, Aladdin, Gemini Man, Abominable, and Star Wars.

Talk topics this year include: “The Art of the Movie Opening” (director Brad Bird); “The Future of Work” (Tom Wujec, tech pioneer); “Welcome to Light Fields” (Paul Debevec, senior engineer at Google VR); “Parr Home Renovations” (Ralph Eggleston, Pixar production designer); “How XR (AR/MR/VR) Will Impact How We Create and What We Create” (Eloi Champagne); “Costume Matters” (Deborah Landis, costume designer); “The Timelessness of Dreams” (Kareem Ettouney, Media Molecule); and “Four Decades of Storytelling with Innovation” (Rob Bredow, SVP and Head of ILM).

This year, VIEW’s masterclass lineup is larger and more diverse than ever before. These intensive educational sessions are especially important for students and professionals, providing attendees a chance to dive deeply into such subjects as: public speaking, concept art, storyboarding, visual effects editing, directing, writing, building a career, design, acting for animation, legal issues, game art, cyber ethics, visual effects in automobile production, costume design, production design, CG technology, and storytelling. In addition, masterclasses in Maya, RenderMan, and Houdini will give participants a chance to polish their creative and technical skills.
