Chris Meledandri and Shigeru Miyamoto take to YouTube to share the news - while plot details are still firmly under wraps, the new animated film project doesn’t appear to be a sequel but rather a fresh take on Mario’s world; the release is set for April 3, 2026.
Kevin Afghani has assumed the role of the iconic Italian duo, Mario and Luigi, in the upcoming video game ‘Super Mario Bros. Wonder,’ after original actor Charles Martinet stepped away from the roles earlier this year.
The beloved voice since 1996 of Mario, Luigi, Wario, and Waluigi in the famed Nintendo game franchise will now serve as an ambassador for the Mario character, with a replacement yet to be announced.
The CG production company will focus on developing IP-based visual content; company name will change to ‘Nintendo Pictures Co., Ltd’ as part of the deal, which is expected to close later this year.
Iconic game character’s creator, Shigeru Miyamoto, and Chris Meledandri will co-produce planned feature.
