‘Velma’ Sets Season 2 Max Premiere

The adult animated comedy series, which tells the origin story of ‘Scooby-Doo’s Velma Dinkley and the formation of ‘the greatest team of mystery solvers ever,’ hits the streamer April 25.

Jinkies! Velma Season 2 has officially set a premiere date at Max. The 10-episode second season of the adult animated series will debut on April 25.

When an even spookier mystery grips Crystal Cove, Velma (Mindy Kaling) must find a way to balance her detective work with the demands of her newfound popularity before it’s too late. Meanwhile, her faithful friends Daphne (Constance Wu), Norville (Sam Richardson), and Fred (Glenn Howerton) are powerless to help thanks to their own personal battles and worse… Detention.

The series also features the voice talents of Russell Peters, Melissa Fumero, Sarayu Blue, Jane Lynch, Wanda Sykes, Cherry Jones, Frank Welker, Nicole Byer, Gary Cole, Andia Winslow, and Sara Ramirez.

Velma is developed and executive produced by Charlie Grandy. Kaling also executive produces alongside Howard Klein and Elijah Aron. Jessica Kumai Scott co-executive produces, while Kandace Reuter and Rick Williams produce. Moss Perricone and Greg Gallant co-produce. Warner Bros. Animation is the studio.

The adult reimagining of the classic 1970’s animated mystery series Scooby-Doo debuted in January 2023 as the most-watched animated series on HBO Max. However, not all accolades are positive. The Velma premiere also garnered the title of Worst Audience Score on IMDB.  Second time’s the charm?
