Tenacious D Releases Animated Music Video for ‘Video Games’

Hard-rocking duo Jack Black and Kyle Gass burst onto the music scene for the first time in years for a video featuring a mix of 2D and 3DCG that takes viewers on an amazing adventure through the worlds of many fan-favorite games.

Singing about video games… while in a video game? It doesn’t get cooler than that! Two-man band Tenacious D - headed by Jack Black and Kyle Gass - has released a new radical animated music video for their single Video Games. The video mixes 2D and 3DCG for an amazing adventure through the worlds of many fan-favorite games, including God of War, Fallout 4, and Red Dead Redemption 2.

Video Games marks the first original song from the band in years, and comes after front man Black starred in a video game movie of his own, The Super Mario Bros MovieThe duo sing an ode to the art of games, and the stories they let players experience.

In a joint statement, Black and Gass shared, “It’s about growing up and leaving childish things behind… But then realizing that video games are more than just mindless toys… In fact, they can be a true expression of huge ideas that belong in the pantheon of great works of art! It’s about time someone defended the honor and integrity of this bold new horizon. Leave it to the greatest band in the world… Tenacious D!!!”

The video for Video Games was created and co-directed by Chris “Oney” O’Neill (Oneyplays) with Adam Paloian.
