Superights Brings ‘Silly Sundays’ to MIPTV

Award-winning animation studio’s new 2D animated series follows 3 kids, their folks and Granny, who embrace every little moment together on their family Sundays; series premiered in Ireland and is rolling out in LatAM and the U.S.

Global distributor Superights has teamed up with long-time partner, award-winning animation studio Cartoon Saloon, to distribute the studio’s new 2D animated series Silly Sundays (78x7’), created by Nuria Gonzalez Blanco. The feel-good comedy, aimed at upper preschoolers, centers around family and savoring special moments together.

The show follows three kids, Sonia, Hugo, Mel, their parents, and Granny. The stories focus on Sunday journeys and the mostly fun times they embrace together, including activities such as playing, dancing, and cooking. Each story ends with an engaging lesson.

RTEJr in Ireland premiered the series in July 2023. It has also been acquired by and is currently rolling out on Cartoonito and Max/HBO Max with Warner Bros. Discovery for EMEA, LatAM, and the U.S.

Superights will promote the series for international distribution, beginning at MIPTV, which runs from April 8 to 10.

“It’s a real pleasure to finally welcome Silly Sundays to our catalog,” said Superights deputy general manager Nathalie Pinguet. “It’s highly original graphic style and the quality of its writing make it a delightful series that makes you want to spend your Sundays by the sea with your family! We are going to complete the work started by Cartoon Saloon and export the series around the globe.”

“We are delighted to once again to partner with the Superights team and really excited to see the market launch of Silly Sundays at MIPTV,” added Cartoon Saloon managing director Gerry Shirren. “Silly Sundays has been a labor of love for the production team at Cartoon Saloon over the last four years, ever since the series made its now acclaimed pitch at Cartoon Forum that wowed the audiences there, and now we hope will find the same excitement with broadcasters and audiences around the world joining those that are already watching on RTE and Cartoonito and MAX.”
