Editorial house Spot Welders announced its expansion as a multifaceted post production facility with the launch of a new VFX company, Shipping + Handling. Helming the new company are VFX Supervisor Casey Price and Executive Producer J. Patrick McElroy.

Housed in a collection of shipping containers on the legendary Spot Welders property in Venice, CA, the new company will offer the same exceptional creative service to outside clients and work, as well as to Spot Welder projects. Clients will experience VFX from conception to delivery in the on-site finishing suites.

VFX Supervisor Casey Price arrives at Shipping + Handling with vast experience both as a VFX Artist and Supervisor. In recent years, Price has worked on discrete, high-visibility campaigns for a leading technology brand.  It was while working on these campaigns for the Cupertino-based company with masters of their craft, director Mark Romanek and DP’s Harris Savides and Jeff Cronenweth, that Price further developed his keen eye for detail and pursuit of perfection.

As a VFX artist and supervisor, Price enjoys the collaboration toward pursuing the final vision with the director and creatives, a relationship he has shared with directors such as Spike Jonze and Ty Evans for Girl Skateboards film Pretty Sweet alongside VFX supervisor Johannes Gamble. Recently, Price flexed his creative freedom as VFX Set Supervisor on Jonze’s latest film Her, starring Joaquin Phoenix. In the role of VFX artist, Price has overseen the image effects for some of the world’s most-watched commercials, such as Visa’s 2008 Olympics campaign, while working at D-Train.

Executive Producer J. Patrick McElroy takes on the development of the new division from his previous position as producer at Spot Welders. McElroy has made Spot Welders his home for the past three years, having moved to L.A. from New York where he represented some of the top editors in the field for many years.

"It finally made sense to have a full service VFX company on our campus,” remarks David Glean, co-founder of Spot Welders. “I couldn't be happier to be working with Casey, he's a rock star. And Patrick will continue the tradition of exceptional production he’s built here at Spot Welders to make Shipping + Handling a standout in the industry. These two bring a fresh energy and take on the VFX scene that is exactly what our clients have been asking for.”
