Shout! Brings Home ‘Big Fish & Begonia’ Aug. 7

Shout! Factory will release the acclaimed Chinese animated feature ‘Big Fish & Begonia’ Aug. 7 on Blu-ray, DVD, Digital HD and iTunes.

Shout! Factory will release Aug. 7 the acclaimed animated feature Big Fish & Begonia on DVD (with digital copy), two-disc Blu-ray and DVD combo pack (with digital copy), Digital HD and iTunes.

Twelve years in the making, Big Fish & Begonia is a visually stunning animated feature that captures the unique aesthetics, mystique and cultural traditions of ancient China. A tale of love, sacrifice and grand adventure, the film entwines new storytelling, mythical legends and lyrical characters from beloved Chinese literary classics.

Many animation enthusiasts, artists and critics have heralded Big Fish & Begonia's artistic achievement as the forefront of the burgeoning Chinese animation industry. This critically-acclaimed movie premiered in competition at Annecy International Animation Film Festival, BFI London Film Festival, and played at Animation Is Film.

Under the ocean is a mystical race of beings that control the tide and the changing of the seasons. One of these beings, a restless young girl named Chun, wants to experience the human world, not simply observe it. When she turns 16, she is allowed to transform into a dolphin to explore the human world. However, the world is a dangerous place. Trapped in a vortex, she is nearly killed but saved at the last minute by a human boy, who drowns as a result. Consumed by guilt, Chun decides to go on an epic adventure to give the boy life again. As protector of his soul, Chun must defeat those who stand in her way, including her own family.

Directed by Xuan Liang and Chun Zhang, Big Fish & Begonia features an exceptional English voice cast of Stephanie Sheh (Your NameSailor Moon Crystal), Johnny Yong Bosch (AkiraDigimon Adventure Tri.), Todd Haberkorn (Star Trek ContinuesFairy Tail), Fong Sung (The Joy Luck ClubMemoirs of a Geisha), Cindy Robinson (Sonic Boom), Cassandra Morris (Your Name), and Yuri Lowenthal (Ben 10Space Racers). Chinese voice cast include Guanlin Ji, Shangqing Su, Weizhou Xu, Shulan Pan, and Shih-Chieh King
