Saffronic Appoints Bhanu Prakash as Head of Creative, Games

The animation production studio founded in 2022 kicks off the new year with a roster of AAA projects for gaming industry titans, spearheaded by the new executive. 

Animation production studio Saffronic has appointed Bhanu Prakash as Head of Creative, Games, to lead the company’s expansion into art and animation services for the gaming industry.

Since the studio’s launch in 2022, Saffronic has firmly established itself in the entertainment space with clients such as DreamWorks Animation (Gabby’s Dollhouse, Dragons: The Nine Realms, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous), WildBrain, and Trioscope. Prakash will spearhead production on three upcoming AAA titles for leading game publishers. Saffronic’s creative services include creating concept art, modeling, texturing, rigging, animation (keyframe and motion-capture clean-up), VFX and full cinematics. The group works in Unreal, Unity and client proprietary engines.

In his new position, Prakash is responsible for leading a dynamic creative team to deliver cutting-edge content to a global clientele. His leadership extends to spearheading advanced technology integration, shaping creative direction, fostering client relationships, overseeing training initiatives, conducting vendor assessments, and orchestrating public relations efforts. The executive will oversee creative for all locations of Saffronic’s games business in India, and will jointly report to studio director Kumar Chandrasekaran and executive creative director Kevin J. Johnson.

Throughout his career in the digital arts, spanning 18+ years across gaming, VR, film, animation, and computer graphics, Prakash has collaborated on high-profile projects with a multitude of industry giants in gaming and entertainment. He previously served as Head of Creative Operations at Technicolor Games, and held senior positions at Electronic Arts, MPC Film, and DQ Entertainment. He has contributed to multiple chart-topping console and mobile games, iconic Hollywood blockbusters, and animated series, including Call of Duty, FIFA, Assassin's Creed, Asphalt 9, GTA5, Gotham Knights, NFS, Jungle Book, Guardians of the Galaxy, Cinderella, Godzilla, Game of Thrones, and Disney's Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

Founded by Tim Sarnoff, former deputy CEO and president of production services at Technicolor, and Vince Pizzica, former Technicolor CTO and chief strategist, Saffronic boasts a growing management team that also includes COO Sally Toms; joint studio directors Kumar Chandrasekaran and Prabhakar Sambandan; executive creative director Kevin J. Johnson; and SVP of business development Kristy Scanlan.
