Red Band Trailer Drops for ‘Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match’

Set in 1980s Hollywood, the animated film stars Joel McHale as Johnny Cage, who’s looking to become an A-list actor but finds himself on a bloody journey, in the Warner Bros. Animation film launching October 17 on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-Ray, and Digital.

Fear not, Mortal Kombat fans! Although the live-action sequel film is in a deep freeze due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, content is still cooking for the fatal franchise. Warner Bros. Animation has announced Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match comes home October 17, and a red band trailer has just been released.

In the film, set in 1980s Hollywood, action star Johnny Cage is looking to become an A-list actor. But when his co-star, Jennifer, goes missing from set, Johnny finds himself thrust into a world filled with shadows, danger, and deceit. As he embarks on a bloody journey, Johnny quickly discovers the City of Angels has more than a few devils in its midst. He faces off against a sinister secret society plotting a nefarious scheme, but the brutal fight against the bloodthirsty warriors of the Netherrealm is just beginning. Can Johnny, alongside other Mortal Kombat legends, save humanity...and, more importantly, his career?

Cage Match stars the voice talents of Joel McHale as Johnny Cage; Kelly Hu as Ashrah; Phil LaMarr as Brian Van Jones; the late Gilbert Gottfried as David Doubldy; Robin Atkin Downes as Shinnok; Zehra Fazal as Jataaka; Dave B. Mitchell as Raiden; Armen Taylor as Master Boyd; Jennifer Grey as Jennifer Grey; and Dusan Brown as Chuck Golden. Todd Gibbs serves as art director; Ed Boon wrote the script. Sam Register executive produces.
