Prospero Pictures Announces ‘Foxed!’ Feature

Film and television production company acquires worldwide rights for the award-winning property, including an animated feature film, television series and an Oculus Rift VR Experience.

TORONTO -- Prospero Pictures has acquired world-wide rights in all media to Director James Stewart's award-winning property Foxed! The agreement between Prospero Pictures and Geneva Film Co. covers rights to an animated feature film, television series and all digital platforms including an Oculus Rift VR Experience.

The feature film is based on Stewart’s short film Foxed! It continues the coming-of-age adventure of Emily and the steampunk children of Chiswick. Foxes have kidnapped all the children of the village. Now, the kids must use their inner strength and group ingenuity to reclaim their town.

Stewart’s wildly popular short film Foxed! opened at #1 on iTunes in six countries in October 2014, after collecting seven “Best Animated Film” awards, appearing at over ninety film festivals around the world. FOXED! Is currently available on iTunes in 60 countries. The short film was funded in part by CTV Bravofact.

“I am thrilled to partner with an exceptional talent like James who brings innovative storytelling to animation, 3D and to all digital platforms,” says Martin Katz, President of Prospero Pictures. “Foxed! already has a global audience and huge social media following. We are thrilled about propelling Foxed! to the next logical step -- an animated feature film.”

Stewart will be the director of Foxed! -- the feature which is based on Stewart’s screenplay and short film. Martin Katz will produce the feature and has already begun discussions with international sales partners. Michael A. Levine, one of Canada's leading entertainment lawyers who has played an active role in building Canada's cultural industries, negotiated the partnership.

“Martin Katz is one of the most respected producers in the industry. His background in online media from the early days of Microsoft’s MSN have given him a particularly detailed insight into the possibilities for the adaptation of the fable Foxed!” says Stewart. “Our lead character, Emily, is inspiring to kids -- and adults -- around the world. I look forward to sharing her adventures in the animated feature and on new platforms like VR.”

The animated feature Foxed! is set for a 2017 release and will be one of the first feature films to include a full Oculus Rift VR Experience written and designed to run alongside the feature film release.

The short film Foxed! is now available on iTunes and Vimeo On Demand.
