A Productions Adds Disney Alum Katie Barba

Animation studio taps development executive to help foster growing slate of kids and family entertainment and original IP-driven content.

Award-winning Bristol animation studio A Productions has announced the addition of Disney alum/development executive Katie Barba to help grow the studio’s slate of kids and family entertainment by developing its IP-driven content. She will work closely with studio founder and joint managing director Mark Taylor.

Barba joins A Productions after a five-year stint at Disney, where she worked in production and development across several of its most popular kids’ animation shows, such as 101 Dalmatian Street, Chip N Dale: Park Life S1 & 2, and Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire.

“We are excited to welcome Katie to the team at this pivotal time in the company’s evolution,” shared Taylor. “Her wealth of experience at Disney will help us to develop new relationships with creatives and partners, enabling us to realize our own IP and make new home-grown, innovative, creator-driven content for kids’ TV and film.”

“I am delighted to be joining A Productions, where I can continue to develop my passion for discovering new animation talent and producing original content,” added Barba. “A Productions has a great reputation for making creative, authentic shows that truly speak to their audience, and I can’t wait to get started.”

Since becoming part of Cybergroup Studios, A Productions has expanded its long-term growth strategy to include developing its creator-driven content. The studio has experienced significant growth over the last five years, which includes providing animation services to its growing roster of broadcasters and SVODs, including CBeebies, CITV, Channel 4, MAX, and Sky and its expanding slate of kids shows including JoJo & Gran Gran, Magic Light’s Pip & Posy Let’s Learn, and Sesame Street: The Nutcracker, Sesame Workshop’s first-ever animated special.

The studio is currently in production on the new action animation series Digital Girl, the new Bea’s Block show from the makers of Sesame Street, and Seasons 2 and 3 of JoJo & Gran Gran.
