Paul Shurgot Upped to Disney Studios SVP/CFO

Paul Shurgot, a key member of Disney's financial team for more than 11 years, has been promoted from deputy cfo to svp/cfo for The Walt Disney Studios. In his new role, Shurgot oversees all finance, accounting and information technology for the studio, including Walt Disney Pictures, Touchstone Pictures, Walt Disney Animation, Pixar Animation, Miramax Films, Buena Vista Worldwide Marketing and Distribution, Buena Vista Worldwide Home Ent., Disney Theatrical Prods., and the Buena Vista Music Group.

"Paul's finance and deal making skills have been a tremendous asset to all divisions of The Walt Disney Studios," said Alan Bergman, president of The Walt Disney Studios, who he will continue to report to. "With so many new opportunities and changes taking place in our industry, Paul's role will be of vital importance in helping Disney maintain its leadership position."

Over the last year, Shurgot served as deputy cfo for The Walt Disney Studios. Prior to that, he held a variety of positions at the company, including svp, studio planning; and director of corporate operations planning.

From 1994-1997, Shurgot was manager of studio financial controls, where he managed consulting projects and production reviews within The Walt Disney Studios, including the assimilation of Miramax Films into the Disney structure.

He also worked at Ernst & Young LLP, where he was manager of M&A Advisory/Due Diligence Group, and was responsible for analyzing and structuring the acquisition of target companies. Shurgot also worked at Harvey Universal Inc. (as manager of reporting and analysis), and KPMG (as a senior auditor) where he earned his CPA.
