One Animation Rolls Out New Series of ‘Oddbods’

Singapore studio announces a series of broadcast deals across Europe, Latin America and Asia for new series of 60 seven-minute episodes of acclaimed family show, ‘Oddbods

SINGAPORE -- One Animation announced a series of broadcast deals across Europe, Latin America and Asia for the new long form version of its highly acclaimed family show, Oddbods. The new 60, 7-minute episodes will air on Boomerang across EMEA and Latin America, Disney channels in Asia, Canal Plus children’s channels Canal+Family and Teletoon+ in France and Africa, ITV in the UK, Boing in Italy.

Oddbods is already enjoying a successful global run in its 224 x 1 and 46 x 5 minute formats which are currently broadcast worldwide across a variety of channels and regions.  It has also clocked up over 45 million views, to date, on its dedicated Youtube channel. The roll out of the long form version follows updates released at Brand Licensing Europe, held in London earlier in the autumn, about deals to license the IP for a suite of merchandise such as apparel and gifting.

Sashim Parmanand, CEO of One Animation, commented. “The Oddbods brand is going from strength to strength. The characters really seem to have taken on a life of their own. With our broadcast partners on board to screen the longer versions of the show we hope to pull in even larger viewing figures.  ITV in the UK, for example, announced at BLE that Oddbods would be its flagship show for its dedicated kids channel, CITV, from this month.  And we continually receive reports of excellent ratings across the regions where it is shown. The show’s appeal is universal and easily adaptable across a variety of formats.  A strategy that is at the heart of our business development plan over the medium to longer term.”

Oddbods is a sketch-based series following the adventures of seven adorable characters as they laugh, fool, and trip their way through the most seemingly ordinary situations, often with unexpected consequences. Each Oddbod has a distinct personality that was created to appeal to adults and children alike.

This news follows an earlier announcement regarding another creation from One Animation’s acclaimed studio, Insectibles. The 3D comedy series about a boy, his eccentric inventor grandfather and a host of bio-mechanically enhanced insects, has been bought by Discovery Kids (Latin America), and also by Canal Plus to screen on its dedicated French kids channels, Canal+Family and Teletoon+.
