The first installment of the epic two-part science-fantasy that explores an original universe and lore streams December 22 only on Netflix.
There are no heroes – only rebels. In anticipation of the swiftly upcoming release of Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire on December 22, Netflix has shared an official clip featuring Staz Nair as Tarak.
From Zack Snyder (300, Man of Steel, Army of the Dead) comes Rebel Moon, an epic two-part science-fantasy event decades in the making. After crash landing on a moon in the furthest reaches of the universe, Kora (Sofia Boutella), a stranger with a mysterious past, begins a new life among a peaceful settlement of farmers. When the tyrannical Regent Balisarius (Fra Fee) and his cruel emissary, Admiral Noble (Ed Skrein), discover the farmers have unwittingly sold their crops to the Bloodaxes (Cleopatra Coleman and Ray Fisher), Kora and Gunnar (Michiel Huisman), a tenderhearted farmer naive in the realities of war, journey to different worlds to assemble a small band of warriors to defend themselves.
Among the fighters is Kai (Charlie Hunnam), a pilot and gun for hire; General Titus (Djimon Hounsou), a legendary commander; Nemesis (Doona Bae), a master swordswoman; Tarak, a captive with a regal past; and Milius (E. Duffy), a resistance fighter. Back on Veldt, Jimmy (voiced by Anthony Hopkins), an ancient, mechanized protector hiding in the wings, awakens with a new purpose. But the newly formed revolutionaries must learn to trust each other and fight as one before the armies of the Motherworld come to destroy them all.
Snyder directs from his script co-written with Kurt Johnstad and Shay Hatten. Bergen Swanson, Sarah Bowen, Hatten, and Johnstad executive produce, while Snyder, Deborah Snyder, Eric Newman, and Wesley Coller produce.
The otherworldly VFX are created by Day for Nite, Framestore, Luma Pictures, Mammal Studios, Opsis, Scanline VFX, and Weta FX, with Bryan Litson serving as visual effects supervisor. Farhad Mohasseb serves as visual effects supervisor for Luma Pictures, and Gregory D. Liegey serves as visual effects supervisor for Mammal Studios.
