Nintendo and Illumination Share ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’ Poster

Starring Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, and Seth Rogen, the highly anticipated animated film based on the ‘Super Mario’ game franchise finally comes to theaters in April.

Illumination Entertainment and Nintendo of America just dropped a poster for the long-awaited 3DCG animated feature, The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Based on the hit game franchise Super Mario Bros., the highly anticipated movie (first announced in 2018!), starring Chris Pratt and Anya Taylor-Joy, finally makes its way to theaters April 7.

Joining Pratt (Mario) and Taylor-Joy (Princess Peach) is the a-list voice cast including Charlie Day as Luigi; Jack Black as Bowser; Keegan-Michael Key as Toad; Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong; Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong; Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek; and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike.

Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic (collaborators on Teen Titans Go!, Teen Titans Go! To the Movies) direct from a screenplay by Matthew Fogel (The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, Minions: The Rise of Gru).

The Super Mario Bros. Movie is produced by Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and Shigeru Miyamoto for Nintendo. The film is co-financed by Universal Pictures and Nintendo and is being released worldwide by Universal Pictures.

In case you missed it, in the trailer, we find Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach teaming up to save their world from Bowser while showing off classic video game references such as the Super Mario Bros. obstacle course and the Mario Cart Rainbow Road.
