New ‘Bakugan’ Series Coming to Netflix and Disney XD

Episodes 1 and 2 of the new Spin Master anime to debut August 1 on the Roblox immersive platform before the series rolls out on the streamer and network in September.

Spin Master Corp. announced the launch of an all-new Bakugan series, premiering on Netflix (U.S., Canada, Australia, Nordics, and Middle East) on September 1 and airing on Disney XD in the U.S. on September 23.

Ahead of the Netflix release, the anime series will launch the first two episodes in English and Japanese August 4 on the immersive platform Roblox. Fans can converge within “All-Star Tower Defense” platform, developed by metaverse game developers Gamefam. The episodes will be available on the platform through August 13.

“The Bakugan franchise will elevate to epic new heights as we further enhance the experience across entertainment and power up the gameplay through toys,” said Spin Master EVP and Global Chief Marketing Officer Jeremy Tucker. “We’ll deliver these new and unique experiences, driving collectability and introducing new ways for Bakugan fans of all ages to battle and connect with the brand.”

In the new season, constant war rages on between the different species of Bakugan (Avian, Dragon, Insect, Beast, Aquatic, and Dinosaur), each residing on their own planet, one of six in the Vestroian galaxy. When experimental weaponry malfunctions, the Bakugan are inadvertently transported to Earth.

The Bakugan arrive as Baku-balls and rain down like meteors, crashing into cities, forests, and oceans – for the first-time humans meet the 10-foot-tall creatures. Humanity welcomes the displaced travelers, embracing their culture – especially the Bakugan’s long-standing tradition of “Brawling.” However, when teenagers start pairing with Bakugan and gain the ability to grow to giant Kaiju size, the world fills with fear, and “The Catastrophe” happens.

A new Bakugan toy line drops at all major retailers August 1, 2023.
