Max Drops ‘Young Love’ Official Trailer

Based on Matthew A. Cherry’s Oscar-winning ‘Hair Love’ short, the new series stars Kid Cudi, Issa Rae, and Brooke Monroe Conaway as a tight-knit Chicago family juggling careers, parenthood, social issues and multi-generational dynamics while working to make a better life for themselves; show debuts September 21.

Max has just released the official trailer for Young Love, an original animated series that debuts September 21 with its first four episodes. The 12-episode season continues with four episodes weekly, with the season finale set for October 5.

Young Love, greenlit back in 2020, expands on Matthew A. Cherry’s Oscar-winning animated short, Hair Love, providing “an honest, heartfelt, and comedic glimpse into the lives of African American millennial parents Stephen Love (Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi) and Angela Young (Issa Rae) as they experience the relatable ups and downs of modern life.”

In the series, now in remission following a battle with cancer, Angela struggles to balance her work as a stylist with the demands of parenthood, while Stephen attempts to carve out a career as a musician in an ultra-competitive industry. Along with their fearless daughter Zuri (Brooke Monroe Conaway), this tight-knit Chicago family juggles careers, marriage, parenthood, social issues, and multi-generational dynamics while striving to make a better life for themselves.

The show features the voices of Mescudi; Rae; Loretta Devine; Harry Lennix; Tamar Braxton; and Conaway. Cherry, Monica A. Young, Karen Rupert Toliver, Carl Jones, David Steward II, and Carl Reed executive produce. Karen Malach produces. The series is produced in partnership with Sony Pictures Animation.
