It’s Official – Jack is Back for ‘Kung Fu Panda 4’

Hot off the press - DreamWorks Animation president Margie Cohn announced today at CinemaCon that everyone’s favorite Panda Warrior, Jack Black, will star in - and Mike Mitchell is directing - an all-new chapter of the hit animated franchise, coming March 8, 2024.

DreamWorks Animation announced today the return of everyone’s favorite Panda Warrior – aka Jack Black – in the next chapter of the hit animated franchise, Kung Fu Panda 4. The announcement was made by DreamWorks Animation president Margie Cohn at the studio’s CinemaCon Presentation. Mike Mitchell (The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, Trolls, Shrek Forever), who served as story consultant and executive producer on Kung Fu Panda 3, is onboard to direct the new film set for release on March 8, 2024.  

Stephanie Ma Stine joins as co-director. Stine was a story artist on Raya and the Last Dragon and How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World. She also directed several episodes of the critically acclaimed DreamWorks Animation Television Series She Ra and the Princesses of Power.

Rebecca Huntley (The Bad Guys, Abominable), who joined DreamWorks Animation Television in 2009, is set to produce. Huntly was on the crew of How to Train Your Dragon managing the animation department. She was subsequently named production executive for the studio and worked on several films in that capacity, including Turbo, The Croods, and Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted, before returning to the Dragon franchise, the production manager on How to Train Your Dragon 2.
