Hulu Scores ‘Undead Unlock’ Anime Series Rights

Adapted from Yoshifumi Tozuka’s ‘Shonen Jump’ Manga series, the show will be featured at the streamer’s Anime Expo Activation in Los Angeles July 1-4; the show debuts this October.

Hulu has acquired U.S. rights from TMS Entertainment for the highly anticipated anime series Undead Unluck, an adaptation of Yoshifumi Tozuka’s popular manga, serialized in “Shonen Jump.” The series comes from UNLIMITED PRODUCE by TMS in collaboration with animation studio david production (Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, Fire Force, Cells at Work!); it debuts on the streamer in October.

At Anime Expo 2023 in Los Angeles July 1-4, Hulu’s interactive Entertainment Hall activation will feature Undead Unluck and other fan-favorite anime on the streamer. The activation embodies the narrative and essence of these series; fans will get to join the Union and capture their moment at the renowned roundtable of Negators.

About Undead Unluck the series:

What happens when an unlucky girl meets an undead guy? Pure chaos!

Tired of inadvertently killing people with her special ability Unluck, Fuuko Izumo sets out to end it all. But when she meets Andy, a man who longs for death but can’t die, she finds a reason to live—and he finds someone capable of giving him the death he’s been longing for.

Created by Yoshifumi Tozuka, he made his manga debut with the one-shot “Uchuu Kankou C-Arc” (“Cosmic Arc Travel”), published in “Jump Next!” in May 2014. Undead Unluck, his first series, began serialization in Weekly “Shonen Jump” in January 2020.
