‘Frozen 4’ in Development Ahead of ‘Frozen 3’ Release

Disney CEO Bob Iger hinted at the fourth franchise offering in a recent interview, which was later verified by songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, who confirmed they would return to score both upcoming films.

We won’t be saying goodbye to Arendelle for a long, long time. Disney CEO Bob Iger has revealed that Frozen 4 is already in development, ahead of the yet-unannounced Frozen 3 release.

Frozen 3 is in the works, and there might be a Frozen 4 in the works too,” Iger said last Thursday on Good Morning America. “But I don’t have much to say about those films right now. [Director] Jenn Lee, who created the original Frozen and Frozen 2, is hard at work with her team at Disney animation on not one but actually two stories.”

Franchise songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez later confirmed on X they would be back to compose the scores for both upcoming films.

While a release date for Frozen 3 has not yet been announced, insiders believe it will premiere during the Thanksgiving season in an available ‘untitled Disney animation’ slot on the studio slate in either November 2024 or November 2025.

Franchise fans can catch Frozen and Frozen 2 streaming on Disney+ now.
