Female Animators Share #MeToo Success Story on ‘Full Frontal with Samantha Bee’

Animated #MeToon video featuring interviews with women working in animation details how ‘Loud House’ creator Chris Savino was fired from Nickelodeon following dozens of allegations of sexual harassment.

Earlier this week, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee devoted a segment of the show to allow a group of female animators tell their stories about working with Loud House creator Chris Savino and how he was fired from Nickelodeon after dozens of women stopped forward with multiple allegations of sexual harassment.

Calling themselves “fed-the-FUCK-up female animators,” the group of women created a video entitled #MeToon, pairing their interviews with hand-drawn animation to illustrate their experiences. The video recounts how these woman and their allies were able to leverage the power of a unified front to help convince The Animation Guild into taking action against a man they describe as a repeat sexual harasser. Despite a number of obstacles along the way, the group was finally able to bring Savino to court on charges of misconduct, and he was ultimately fired by the studio from his role as showrunner of the hit series, which was then in its second season.

#MeToon was produced and animated by an all-female team led by Kaitlin Fontana with Julie Levitsky, and edited by Daphne Gómez-Mena. Watch it in the player below:
