The folks behind Freeform’s new sizzling animated series, Praise Petey, have shared an exclusive clip for the upcoming episode “Barn Wedding,” airing Friday, August 4 at 10:00 PM EST and streaming the next day on Hulu. The show is created, written, and executive produced by Anna Drezen (former head writer of Saturday Night Live).
In the all-new episode, Petey and Eliza scheme to bring an honest income to New Utopia by renting out barns as wedding venues for the Manhattan elite. When her ex, Brian, is their first client, Petey scrambles to make it the perfect night – and to make him jealous.
Petey, aka Petra, begins the series as an NYC “It Girl” with everything figured out until her well-curated life comes crashing down. As luck would have it, a mysterious gift from her deceased father gives her a new lease on life – taking over as leader of his small-town cult New Utopia. As Petey leans into her new role as a “girl boss,” she discovers what it means to be a leader and how to find her voice as she tries to modernize her late father’s small-town cult.
Praise Petey features a stellar voice cast led by Annie Murphy (Schitt’s Creek), Christine Baranski (The Good Fight), Stephen Root (Barry), John Cho (Star Trek), and Kiersey Clemons (The Flash).
In the clip “Petey Turns the Girls into Bridesmaids” Petey transforms Beth, Joslyn, and Wendy into “Bridesmaids” and gives them specific instructions for their adventure as one – check it out:
In addition to Drezen, the series is executive produced by Bandera Entertainment’s Mike Judge, Greg Daniels and Dustin Davis alongside ShadowMachine’s Alex Bulkley and Corey Campodonico (Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio), and Monica Padrick (Central Park). The series is produced by Disney Television Studios’ 20th Television Animation, with animation by ShadowMachine.
Praise Petey Season 1 consists of 10 episodes, the first two episodes premiered July 21 on Freeform. Two episodes drop weekly, with all episodes also available on Hulu the next day.
