Disney Shakes Up Release Slate, Live-Action ‘Moana’ Delayed

The feature adaptation of the original animated feature has moved from June 27, 2025 to July 10, 2026, while the animated ‘Moana 2’ sequel will still premiere November 27, 2024; the anticipated ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ has been confirmed for a 2026 release.

It will be a long time before fans can travel back to Motunui. Disney recently revealed multiple shifts and additions to its theatrical release slate, including a push of the upcoming live-action Moana film from June 27, 2025 to July 10, 2026. While disappointing, it may give the upcoming Moana 2, which is still slated to premiere November 27, 2024, a better chance to shine.

Also debuting later than expected is the Rami Malek- starring spy thriller The Amateur, which has been moved from November 8, 2024 to April 11, 2025.

In other exciting news, the studio revealed that the highly anticipated The Mandalorian & Grogu will debut in 2026. The upcoming Star Wars film is set to be directed and produced by Jon Favreau, with Kathleen Kennedy and Dave Filoni also producing. The project is scheduled to begin production later this year.

Toy Story 5 will also premiere in 2026, while Tron: Ares will open October 10, 2025 after multiple delays.
