Digital Art Collective Nouns Announces New Funding Round

2nd funding round opens March 1, awarding $20,000 grants for ‘Tall Short’ film ideas; ‘Short Shorts’ submissions close February 29.

Since announcing a $1 million grant fund for animated shorts, the digital art collective Nouns has received submissions from 200+ animators and creators worldwide for consideration in the sub-3-minute runtime “Short Shorts.” The initial round of submissions in this category closes on February 29, 2024.

Beginning March 1, Nouns Fest opens submissions for second round funding, offering grants of $20,000 each to fund “Tall Shorts,” films with a three-minute running time. This round of funding for longer projects is open through March 30. Submit ideas here.

"The creativity, imagination, and wit on display in the initial submissions have been tremendous," said Nouns Fes co-founder Chris Waters. "It's going to be incredibly exciting to see the ideas generated by our first-ever call for ideas for longer shorts, which approach the running time of traditional animated shorts, offering a world of possibility."

Upon announcing its selections in April, Nouns Fest will transfer funds to participants, who can begin production immediately.

50 completed films will participate in the Fall 2024 Nouns Fest celebration. Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, which helped conceive the project and secure the involvement of Nouns, will screen three original shorts at the event. The event’s date and location will be announced in spring 2024.
