Deducers ‘Spark’ Course Kicks off in June

The training program’s blended curriculum teaches early career coordinators and production assistants about roles in creative studios, production team expectations, the language of motion and post-production, and the skills needed to navigate the production process.

Motion design / post-focused training program Deducers has announced its second in-depth course, “Spark,” featuring a blended curriculum designed for individuals new to the industry or early in their careers as coordinators and production assistants. The 10-week course kicks off June 21.

The course teaches participants about the role of producers and coordinators in creative studios, including production team expectations, the language of motion and post-production, and the skills needed to navigate the production process. The curriculum’s teaching methods aim to promote learning and retention in five core competencies for production: scheduling, budgeting, resourcing, managing scope, and guiding others.

“I’m very excited about this new curriculum for Spark,” said Deducers founder and curriculum director Kacey Warren. “It’s going to provide a very sturdy backbone for anyone coming into the industry and will definitely give them a leg up in a tough market.”

Deducers’ Flame course returns June 20 for junior and associate producers, with tips on creating scope proposals and leveraging scope agreements to manage jobs effectively. Participants also learn to identify resources, negotiate rates, and guide teams through productive communications.

“My favorite thing last term wasn't just teaching - although our students were fabulous - it was witnessing their growth and hearing how they were putting the material to use to do their jobs,” said Deducers founder and industry veteran Rebecca Olsen. “Our curriculum provides foundational and practical skills, and to see our students execute them was extremely rewarding.”

“The Flame course came along at the perfect time in my animation production career,” said Poolbar owner/producer Ali Ferrari, who took the course in February. “I've been kind of winging it up until now, and Flame has provided some much-needed systems and advice that I've already been implementing in my work.”

Deducers’ most advanced course, Blaze (customized for mid- and senior-level producers), will kick off in October with executive producer Darren Jaffe instructing. Jaffe boasts 20+ years of experience working with recognizable global brands.
