‘Cryptozoo’ and its Legendary Cryptids Coming to Blu-Ray and VOD

From visionary comic book writer, artist, and filmmaker Dash Shaw (Discipline), the strange and hypnotic tale Cryptozoo comes to Blue-ray and video on demand November 16^th. The stylized animated film premiered this past January 29 at the Sundance Film Festival, winning the Innovator Award, and for good reason. The film, a vibrant and fantastical story, follows cryptozookeepers through a richly-drawn hallucinatory world as they struggle to capture a baku, a legendary dream-eating hybrid creature. Portrayed with stunning visuals, the cryptozookeepers start to wonder if they should display these rare beasts in the zoo’s confines, or if these mythical creatures should remain hidden as legends. Along with the film, the home release offers special bonus features including a Cryptids GIF Gallery.

The film features the voice talents of Lake Bell (BoJack Horseman); Michael Cera (Superbad); Zoe Kazan (The Big Sick); Louisa Krause (Billions); Angeliki Papoulia (A Blast); Thomas Jay Ryan (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind); Peter Stormare (American Gods); and Grace Zabriskie (Twin Peaks). Cryptozoo was written and directed by Shaw; Jane Samborski (13 Reasons Why) directed and produced the animation.
