Classic Disney Art Collection Headed to Auction on June 5

More than 290 original Disney drawings, celluloids and more available at auction, including works from ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,’ ‘Pinocchio,’ and ‘Bambi.’

A celluloid of Bambi from ‘Bambi.’ Walt Disney Studios, 1942. Gouache on celluloid, muti-cel set-up, applied to a watercolor production background, stamped on the back, “F-2 Bambi / Seq. 2.1 / Sc artist Arensma.” Bambi and the rabbits are on one cel and the grass is on another full cel, matted and framed. Estimate: $ 6,000 - 8,000.

NEW YORK -- On June 5, auction house Bonhams and Turner Classic Movies are set to present An Important Animation Art Collection, The Property of a Gentleman, which features more than 290 original Disney animation drawings, storyboards, posters, concept art and celluloids. The collection, accumulated over 25 years, comprises a wide range of titles and items from over 60+ years of Disney animation, a fascinating history lesson on the studio’s changing styles and focus from its early 1930s shorts through to comic strips to the studio’s revival in the 1980s including Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Sleeping Beauty, and Pinocchio to The Little Mermaid and Aladdin.

The collection will be on preview at Bonhams Los Angeles from May 19-21 and then will be on display at Bonhams New York June 2-5.
