Cast Featurette Drops for ‘Sonic’ Spinoff Series ‘Knuckles’

The live-action / CGI mini-series, which centers on Idris Elba’s dastardly, coffee drinking red Echidna as he teaches his protege Wade Whipple the ways of the warrior, hits Paramount+ April 26.

He just hits different. A cast featurette has just dropped for the upcoming Paramount+ series Knuckles, the latest in the “Cinematic World of Sonic the Hedgehog” from Paramount Pictures and SEGA of America.

The project is a new live-action event series following Knuckles (Idris Elba) on a hilarious and action-packed journey of self- discovery as he agrees to train Wade Whipple (Adam Pally) as his protégé and teach him the ways of the Echidna warrior. The series takes place between the films Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

Also starring are Scott ‘Kid Cudi’ Mescudi (X, Don’t Look Up); Edi Patterson (The Righteous Gemstones); Julian Barratt (Mindhorn); Ellie Taylor (Ted Lasso); and Rory McCann (Game of Thrones). Reprising their role from the franchise is Tika Sumpter (Final Space) as Maddie.

Jeff Fowler, franchise director, returns to helm the pilot. Ged Wright, Brandon Trost, Jorma Taccone, and Carol Banker will also direct. John Whittington (Sonic the Hedgehog 2, The Lego Batman Movie) serves as executive producer and head writer alongside series scribes Brian Schacter and James Madejski. Fowler, Whittington, and Elba executive produce alongside Neal H. Moritz and Toby Ascher of Original Film and Toru Nakahara. Paramount Pictures and Sega of America produce.

VFX houses on the show include Clear Angle Studios, Fin Design + Effects, HOST VFX, ILM,  Outpost VFX, Rising Sun Pictures, Track VFX, and Untold Studios.

All six episodes of Knuckles will premiere April 26, exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S.
