Cartoon Tributes Winners Announced

Awards recognizing animation developments in Europe go to ‘Loving Vincent,’ Latido Films and the producers of ‘Another Day of Life.’

BORDEAUX, FRANCE -- Organizers of the 20th Cartoon Movie announced March 9 the winners of the Cartoon Tributes awards for outstanding contribution to the development of European animation over the last year.

The aim of the Tributes is to reward outstanding achievements, companies or personalities that have had a positive and dynamic influence on the animation feature film industry.

All professionals attending the Cartoon Movie voted for their favorite nominee in three categories. This year’s winners are:

  • Director of the Year: Dorota Kobiela (Poland) & Hugh Welchman (U.K.) for Loving Vincent.
  • Distributor of the Year: Latido Films (Spain)
  • Producer of the Year: Platige Films (Poland), Kanaki Films (Spain), Walking the Dog (Belgium), Wüste Film (Germany), Animationsfabrik (Germany), Puppetworks (Hungary) for Another Day of Life.
