The seventh edition of the Ibero-American Animation Quirino Awards is now accepting submissions for the event, with the awards ceremony set for May 11, 2024, at the Teatro Leal in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Tenerife. Created in 2018, the Quirino Awards promotes professional networks on both sides of the Atlantic for Ibero-American talent and its animation industry, encouraging growth of the Ibero-American animation market. The next edition runs May 9-10, 2024.

Works accepted in seven main categories:

  • Feature Films
  • Series
  • Short Films
  • School Short Films
  • Commissioned Films
  • Video Game Animation
  • Music Video

The newly added music video category recognizes creators expanding animation’s scope by interacting with other art disciplines.

The finalists in the main categories will also compete in three technical categories:

  • Visual Development
  • Animation Design
  • Sound Design
  • Original Music

Submissions are open to work with the majority of production from one of the 23 Ibero-American countries.

  • Feature films, series, and video game animations - works need to have been released between June 1, 2022, and December 31, 2023
  • All other categories - only works released during 2023 will be accepted.

Deadline for submissions is December 14, 2023, at 23:59 (Spanish time). Rules for participation are available here.

Six nominees are selected per category by committee and announced in mid-February 2024. Subsequently, an International Jury will select three finalists per category to compete for the awards presented at the May 11, 2024, awards ceremony.

The Quirino Awards will also host the “Co-Production and Business Forum,” created to promote the co-production, development, and circulation of Ibero-American animation works and projects. Last year’s event boasted the participation of 148 companies from 26 countries, with more than 1,200 professional meetings organized between production companies, distributors, sales agencies, TV channels, and streaming platforms.
