Blue Zoo to Create ‘Fugglers’ Entertainment Universe

A 5-year deal with Libertas Brands tasks the animation studio with launching the popular plush characters into the entertainment realm via multiple digital platforms: online, on-screen, and in-game.

Blue Zoo animation studio has announced a five-year content deal with Libertas Brands to bring its Fugglers toy brand, known for its quirky and mischievous characters, to the entertainment world via digital platforms online, on-screen, and in-game. In building a social and immersive content environment, the studio aims to build long-term value in the characters, moving them from a collectible plush toy to an international multi-format IP.

"We are delighted to partner with Blue Zoo for this exciting partnership," said Libertas Brands CEO and co-founder Mark Kingston. "Fuggler has captured the hearts of fans worldwide, selling over 8m pieces of plush in the last three years, and is on track to surpass this number in just 2024 alone. This strategic collaboration with Blue Zoo will allow us to extend the Fuggler experience beyond the realm of toys. We believe this jointly funded partnership will create immersive and entertaining content that resonates with our existing fans while also introducing the crazy world of the Fugglers to new fans worldwide."

"Investing in Fugglers is a unique and thrilling opportunity," said Blue Zoo director Oli Hyatt. "The whimsical and eccentric nature of Fugglers characters provides endless possibilities for storytelling and comedy. We look forward to bringing these charming creatures to life in a way that will captivate audiences and leave a lasting impression, it is going to be fun making something just a little bit naughty."

Under the terms of the agreement, Blue Zoo will produce and digitally exploit multiple strands of content across relevant digital platforms, including a series line-up of 90x3’ themed comedy shorts, a series of parodies, songs, 'Fuggnatomies,' and live-action content which is not available on the Fugglers YouTube channel February 16.

The content will potentially include feature-length and series-length productions for which Libertas Brands and Blue Zoo are actively seeking broadcast partners.
