‘Between the Keyframes’ Motion Design Vidcast Launches

New biweekly show from industry experts Erin Sarofsky and Austin Shaw gives an insider’s look and insights into process, practice, and culture.

Erin Sarofsky and Austin Shaw, two experts in the motion design industry, have launched a new vidcast they’re hosting, Between the Keyframes. Shaw literally wrote the book on motion design ("Design for Motion: Fundamentals and Techniques of Motion Design," Routledge, 2nd Edition, 2019) and is an educator and freelance creative director and designer. Sarofsky owns Sarofsky, a creative studio that provides a wide array of production services including motion design, branded entertainment, animation and VFX, and live-action.

Already live with episodes exploring "The History of Now," "Work from Home," and "Passion Projects," the vidcast will release new episodes biweekly on Tuesdays. The next installment will cover "Fulltime vs. Freelance;" part one is now available, with part two dropping on July 27.

"Austin is the Yin to my Yang - adding thoughtful rationale to my practical viewpoint," explained Sarofsky. "This vidcast grew from years of friendship, collaboration and mutual respect for the different avenues we've taken in this industry. Our goal is to share our years of sweat equity in this fairly young industry and offer insights on motion design, so students and professionals alike can gain perspective and help in the process."

"Erin and I met in the mid-2000s working on projects, and have been friends ever since," added Shaw. “A lot of people only see the highlight reel, and not the sweat, blood and tears that went into all the years building our craft. This is us pulling back the curtain and sharing what we've learned along the way."

Every episode of Between the Keyframes focuses on providing insights that build a bridge between education and industry, giving viewers insights into process, practice, and culture. With occasional special guests, panels, and other special segments, the hosts are also actively monitoring their social media channels to gather and address questions and insights in new episodes. Viewers and listeners can expect frank discussions that tell-all with no holds barred, and knowledge that can only come from accomplished industry insiders.

The vidcast is now available via YouTube, Apple podcasts, Google podcasts, Spotify, and wherever you get podcasts. More information is available here.
