Bye, bye Batman! Lovers of the Caped Crusader will now have to wait another year to see Robert Pattinson don the cowl in The Batman Part II. Previously slated to swoop into theaters October 3, 2025, the film will now premiere on October 2, 2026, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Releasing instead on October 3, 2025 is The Bride!, directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal and starring Christian Bale. No reason was given for the push.

The sequel was first announced at CinemaCon in April 2022, while the title and original release date were revealed by DC Studios’ Peter Safran and James Gunn in late January 2023.

Gunn previously described Part II as a DC Elseworlds project, separate from the official DCU continuity but with the full support of DC Studios. Also part of the Matt Reeves Batman Elseworlds franchise is the Max series The Penguin, starring Colin Farrell. Reeves’ previously announced Arkham Asylum series, however, will be official DCU canon. Confused yet?

Reeves returns to direct Part II, with Pattinson reprising his role as the caped crusader. Jeffrey Wright also returns as James Gordon alongside Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth. No plot details are currently known.
