Adult Swim Unleashing ‘JJ Villard’s Fairy Tales’ on May 10

Emmy-winning animator’s new series is a twisted take on classic Grimm’s’ Fairy Tales like ‘Cinderella’ and ‘Snow White.’

Adult Swim has just announced that JJ Villard’s Fairy Tales, the Emmy-winning animator’s new series, will premiere Sunday night, May 10 at 12:15 a.m.  Any Villard show promises an abundance of bloody mayhem his fans always appreciate; his latest series is a twisted, fun take on classic Brothers Grimm fairy tales like “Cinderella” and “Snow White.” As the studio puts it, “The charm and cuteness of the original stories remain, but now they've been updated and packaged into a ball of raw, visceral, gross weirdness.”

Villard, who won a Primetime Emmy in 2015 for his show, King Star King, began his reign of animated terror years ago with the incredibly nasty Charles Bukowski short, Son of Satan (2003), a Best First/Student Film winner at the 2004 Ottawa International Animation Festival, and equally crazy-assed Chestnuts Icelolly (2004), which took the Grand Prize at the Ottawa festival the following year.

JJ Villard’s Fairy Tales is created, and executive produced by Villard and produced by Cartoon Network Studios. Voice talent this season includes Linda Blair, Warwick Davis, Robert Englund, Corey Feldman, Alan Oppenheimer, Jennifer Tilly, and Villard himself among others.
