Future Animators of the Future 4th annual Animation and Video Festival

This year's show will be held in the fall (late October, early November) and tour four major cities in three states (Boston, New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles). Our goal is to put on a good, entertaining show, so help us out.

The 2nd eDIT/VES 2003: The European Festival for Production and Visual Effects is a congress of workshops, panels and talks by international experts and top creatives who will show where film is going in the 21st century and present the best visual effects from European feature films and current Hollywood productions. eDIT retains its well-tried structure of seven program blocks. Sponsored by Visual Effects Society (VES), the emphasis is content-oriented. The Art of Storytelling in the Digital Age is thus once again the focus of eDIT/VES 2003.

Sex on the Lawn 2: The Second Coming

NewTown will presents Sex on the Lawn 2: The Second Coming at 8:00 pm. The event offers up an evening of music, performances, inflatable sculptures, films, videos and chocolate confections celebrating sex with works ranging from whimsical to hardcore. The screening will feature the animated film FOUR LETTER HEAVEN by Jeff Scher and Cecily Brown, which has the unique distinction of being the first film officially censored off the Internet. Tickets will be $12 for the general public and $8 for NewTown and Pasadena Art Alliance members.

Open Animation Screening in Toronto!

The Toronto Animated Image Society is welcoming animators to show their animated films at our annual open screening. Everyone is welcome to show their work. Formats available will be 16mm, 35mm,Mini-DV, VHS, BETA and DVD. Beginning at 8:00 pm, the screening will take place at the NFB Mediatheque, 150 John Street. World 3D Film Expo

SabuCat Productions will present the largest 3D tribute show ever at the Egyptian Theatre (6712 Hollywood Boulevard). The 10-day festival, which celebrates the golden era of 3D filmmaking, will include many of the best known 3D titles of the 1950's, such as BEANY & CECIL, HOUSE OF WAX, KISS ME KATE and CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON, but will also offer fans of the format an opportunity to see some of the more obscure 3D movies. L.A. Premieres include THE NEBRASKAN; FLIGHT TO TANGIER, JESSE JAMES VS. DALTONS; and THE GLASS WEB.

The program also includes Gerry Anderson's THUNDERBIRDS, debut animation from Cartoon Network, and selected shorts from Debra Solomon, and award winning new-comers Sean McBride, Cynthea Mazur, Maori Stanton, and many more! It all takes place on Sunday, August 24th from 2:00 -4:00 pm at the Anthology Film Archives (located at 32 2nd Ave.

QuakeCon 2003

First held in 1996, QuakeCon is the brainchild of id Software game fans that originally wants to get together with online friends and talk about their favorite games. Now the event is the premiere multiplayer gaming conference. More than 3,000 attendees partake in the huge exhibit area featuring E3 quality displays from the likes of Activision, Apple, Sega and many others. The BYOC (Bring Your Own Computer) area, powered by LinkSys, also grew larger to a 1,300 seat LAN party, the largest of its kind in North America.

The 1st Annual Shanghai International Cartoon Carnival is an animation and comics festival targeted at children and teenagers. ConFurence 2003

This is the annual celebration of anthropomorphic characters (aka: "furries") as they appear in Animation, Comics, Literature, costuming, and other forms of media. Pre-registration is $35/$40 before 12-1-2002/3-1-2003 or $50 at the door.

Hosted at the Hilton Burbank Airport and Convention Center, ConFurence 2003 marks our 15th annual convention. This year's theme "The Furry West" is sure to inspire some unique artwork and costuming ideas from regular and new attendees.
