A creative dynamo moves on to the next big thing.
I grew up on Stan Lee’s comics, and became aware of “The Man” himself sometime in grade school. I was a full-fledged comics geek throughout college, and was inspired to pursue my own entertainment career in no small part by Stan Lee’s example. Many have expressed sadness at his death, but my first thought was that I can only hope to live so long, with such creative vigor.
Stan Lee was a creative dynamo who reinvented superheroes, comic books, Hollywood and pop culture. It was my unexpected honor to eulogize him on Beijing’s CHINA PLUS radio program. Instead of R.I.P., I believe Stan would rather us say, “Excelsior!”
